I'm not sure that I view being "anti-muslim" as being a "conservative" or "liberal" view. It seems that liberals should be appalled by a religion that holds women and basic human rights in such low regard.

Not to be morbid or to make it sound like I'm trying out for a position as an ISIS strategist, but: since the 2008 Mumbai attacks, I've always wondered why there aren't more attacks like this. Kidnapping and murdering journalists gets people angry, but if you're really trying to instill fear and terror in the west, isolated incidents like this would seem to be more effective.

Agreed. I also think the accurate term is anti-Islam, not anti-Muslim.

I've wondered the same thing. Attacking a club or an event like this seems like something you would expect to happen more often.

agreed. Especially concerts, where handing $10 to a guy at the gate gives you access to whatever you want.

People are motivated by complex combinations of ideology, personal history, historical identity, economic and social standing, their past experiences and future aspirations, their confidence in a better tomorrow and the grievances they carry with them. They reproduce what they know, try to do better, and make mistakes in the process. We're really quite complicated, and any single factor analysis or broad generalization about why people do the things they do are usually pretty worthless if you want to actually understand why someone acts the way they do.

We've already been over all this shit previously in this thread. I hold Muslims to the same standards I hold Christians and Jews. I'll never understand why some of my "liberal" friends are more than happy to rant on and on about Christians and gay rights (among other things) but shudder at the thought of calling out Muslims for their beliefs.
