I'm glad the Cubs won!

But it still feels weird that either the 2nd or 3rd best team was going to be out of the playoffs after a single game.

The better answer is that the Pirates shouldn't have had a losing record to the Reds and Brewers.

The how is the why. The current playoff structure is awesome and if wc teams don't like it they should have won their division.
