Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

But why

I was just joking around, Joe.

But also, in most of the theaters I go to, the aisles are on the sides.

I know you were joking. That wasn't meant to be aggressive or anything. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

There aren't a lot of theaters (anymore) that have sections with center aisles, it's true. Most of the theaters I go to are continental style (one long row). And the aisles are "on the sides" but they aren't further out than the edge of the screen.

Really, the most important thing for me is to be in the last row. That way I can't hear any people behind me.

All good!

I suppose that would be one of the benefits of the back row. And also being able to see what the people in front of you are looking at on their phones.

but if you really do need something to chew on, then I guess:

Wavelength (Michael Snow, 1967)
I've written those down, I'll check em out

You're going to feel like I pranked you, but all four of those movies are actually important to me, ha ha. You can probably find at least excerpts on YouTube

I don’t think I’ll see The Whale in theaters. My interest for that one really slowed down to a point I don’t care if I miss it in the big screen.
