California's handgun roster has been struck down pending a stay. It's not clear whether the state will appeal the ruling. If it gets kicked up to a circuit decision, other roster laws might be struck down.

Claiming 'safety' as the justification might need some actual basis going forward.

Since this thread has been bumped (once again), I've got three questions that have been percolating in my mind for quite some time now, and it'd be great to learn from any of you who want to see guns restricted more than the status quo:

1. Which types of gun ownership do you want banned?
2. What is your plan to get those guns out of the hands of those owners?
3. What is your plan if the owners of those guns refuse to comply?

I think it's smart for Biden to keep calling for this after each shooting.

Biden has focused on reinstating the assault weapons ban that he helped pass in 1994 as senator, but which lapsed in 2004. The president doesn’t appear to have the votes for an assault weapons ban in Congress.

if you want to have a gun that shoots 10 bullets a second (or whatever they do) then fine. you pass a background check and no criminal offenses then you can have it. but since the 2a deals with militias you are now part of your states militia. if your militia gets called up to fight a foreign power/war then drop what you are doing and get er done

Here’s my question:

Why does your right to own guns supercede the rights of those 9-year-old kids to be alive? Why is it more important that nutjobs be allowed to purchase any kind of firearm they want and however many they want of them than it is for kids in elementary school to be alive?

The fact of the matter is school shootings wouldn’t happen if there weren’t guns.

My state, the same one in which this latest school shooting occurred, recently became the first state in the union to ban drag shows. And why? Because of the danger drag shows present to children. That’s right, too dangerous for children. What’s the number one cause of death among children in the US? Firearms.

I'm not trying to be contentious here. Since you seem to think we need greater gun control, I want to listen to you on how you'd implement it via the questions I asked.

If it were up to me, I’d get rid of all of them except for military/police use. I know that’ll never happen so there’s no way to come up with a plan for 2 or 3. The math is pretty simple tho. There are more guns out there than there ever have been. There are more mass shooting than there ever have been. It’s a direct correlation. The answer is obviously NOT arm more people.

I'm disappointed to hear this from both of you, any law is only as good as it can be enforced, and the reason I'm asking all three questions in concert is to get a better idea on how people want to enforce their preferred gun control laws.
