"Pay per mile" is obvious goal here, but this is going to piss off so many folks they might not get there.
That just makes me want to buy and fix up my dream car that has very little electronics.Higgs wrote:That would (will soon enough no doubt) piss me off SOOO much.
Can I interest you in an antique Corvette?E.H. Ruddock wrote:That just makes me want to buy and fix up my dream car that has very little electronics.Higgs wrote:That would (will soon enough no doubt) piss me off SOOO much.
I'm not really a sports car guy unless it is an old Aston Martin. Give me an early 80's AMC 4x4 Wagon, please.BurtReynolds wrote:Can I interest you in an antique Corvette?E.H. I may never buy a car built in the 2000s again.E.H. Ruddock wrote:I'm not really a sports car guy unless it is an old Aston Martin. I think I told the story before about my son "sinking" his 2016 Ford Ranger 4x4. It was stuck on the beach and had water up to the bottom of the doors for 45 minutes. Thank fuck they wrote it off.E.H. I don’t understand why auto companies have different models in different countries. That Everest looks cool compared to its equivalent here in the US (Explorer?)Higgs wrote:I think I told the story before about my son "sinking" his 2016 Ford Ranger 4x4. He's now got a lifted 2013 Hilux with far less electronics and technical shit. He's much happier now (if less comfy on long drives).
There is such a huge use case for less electronic wizardry in cars. Sadly that's not the way of the world these days.
(Having said that I drive a 2024 Ford Everest with everything under the sun on it and quietly kinda love it. I'm not launching boats on remote WA beaches however).
