There was apparently a serious mass shooting in Alabama last night. Potentially 10 kids killed… but no news coverage. WTH? Are we really that dead inside now or is the news just that shitty?

First story when I went to Google news.

found three handguns cleaning out my stepfathers place

one looks like a 38
one is a mauser -6, 35
one is a armi-tanfoglio mod gt 32-cal

being naive i stopped at the local police station and asked them the best way to sell them. was told to secure each gun and then take it to a gun shop. upon getting home i realized i had no clue how to check if they were loaded. took them back to the station to have them check for me.

mistake one was transporting weapons i am not registered to carry and may be loaded. they understood the situation and knew i meant no malice. they checked each and none were loaded or anything. friends with the one cop and he ran the serial numbers and they were not stolen but also there was no owner listed. they suggested getting them appraised as they were impressed with the mauser and armi-tanfoglio.

so now i wait to hear back from the gun shops i reached out to if they are interested in purchasing them

I haven't really followed this story at all, but for what it's worth I did see there were a few arrests today.

Mauser might be worth something. Kids these days love their curio and relics.

i have no idea. i didnt know he had any guns. my brother knew he had the 38

Come across some unregistered firearms and gets rid of them?!

My dad’s wife tried to get me to take his very full gun safe when he passed. Nobody knew the combination. I sometimes wonder what they ended up doing with it.

Hopefully you didn't walk into the station with them.

When my dad passed I took all of his gun safes and stuck them in my basement so I could catalog and start trying to sell them, so my mom didn't have to worry about guns/ammo at her place.

I've sold a few so far, and will probably keep the few he told us not to sell.

Interesting. When my grandmother died, we called the sheriff (miami/dade area) and they came and picked them all up making sure we documented the serial numbers and types and such before turning them over. This was 25 years ago though so things may have changed.

Just take them to one of those gun buyback events and get some Applebee's gift cards.
