It was one of my first DVDs. Pretty good special edition, lots of great bonus features. Fincher's DVDs were always packed with interesting stuff. I remember the Se7en DVD was how I learned about color grading, it seemed like magic.

There was a report that M. Night Shyamalan was going to shoot his next film Knock at the Cabin in one long take but his reps have now said that is false.

Nightmare Alley coming back to theatres, but in black and white. Something like 900 theatres will have it this weekend. Including two around me. I thought this movie was OK, but I guess I'm intrigued by this black and white thing. Is it a gimmick? Should I go look at it?

I adore B&W and am almost always please to see it utilized. Watched The Addiction a few weeks ago.

Academy award nominations were announced today. I used to somewhat keep up with those but that’s been thrown out the window the past couple years.
The award ceremony itself has to be better than last year’s; that was awful.

Obviously, I don't care about the Academy Awards. I don't know what it means...I don't think it means anything. There's too many great movies and you've heard it all before, but..

It always boggles the mind when a group obviously likes a movie but misses the obviously best part of it. Belfast got a bunch of nominations. And it's a fine movie, it's not bad. I even liked it. But Jamie Dornan and Caitríona Balfe are so obviously the best part of that movie. How do voters decide to nominate the grandparents in that movie and skip over the parents? Was there confusion about if they should be Lead or Supporting? I don't get it.

I'm not even saying they were the best performances of the year. I'm just saying they were the best performances in that movie so I'm not sure how voters skipped over them to choose someone else from the same movie.

I think it's because Academy voters are old and want to honor fellow old people. They're jealous of the vim and vigor and vitality and virility and viscosity of Jamie Dornan and Caitríona Balfe

It's more that I care about Jamie Dornan and women with Irish accents than that I care about the Academy Awards. I have a lot of love in my heart for Jamie Dornan and women with Irish accents

CODA made me cry, but not, like in a good way. I could feel myself being manipulated. And I'm also a sucker for that kind of movie because, even though I am childless, I think I have the soul of a father of daughters
