Moonlander - Stone Gossard

When a band is but a fraction of Pearl Jam, but they aren't zero Pearl Jam.

I really liked it. Some of it I wasn't too crazy about, but with offshoots of the main event like this, it's rewarding to be surprised by the other types of stuff band members are into. Stone seems like the band member that is most surprising in what they compose.

There are a lot of songs on it that get stuck in my head, but that's the one right now

I'm enjoying this album quite a bit. I really like a lot of the musical arrangements. The lyrics for several of the songs take it down a notch. I'll give it 3/5 stars. A solid effort, hopefully has some legs for me. I wonder, though, if I would enjoy it as much if it wasn't a PJ member's album?

Some observations:
Moonlander: probably the best overall song on the album.

Your Flames: this is a much slower version than the one released a few years back. Guess he was going for more album variety? I prefer the previous version, but this one is still quite nice.

King of the Junkies: yep, I heard Hotel California the first time I heard this song. Glad its just a small section of the song. Is this song about/or a nod to Andy Wood? From the lyrics to Stone's delivery - that's the first thing that popped into my mind.

I Don't Want to Go to Bed: aside from the "hill of beans" lyric, I really like this tune. With some lyrical improvement, I think this could've been a great PJ song. Its got some of the quirky, yet rocking hallmarks of a song like Rival.

I really hope Stone does a solo tour sometime to support this. He's got a nice catalog of music now.

Yes! Pete Droge fucking rules. I want him in Stone´s solo band.

I dont want to go to bed and Battle cry would have been great as PJ songs.

I bought it today, just now listening to it the whole way through. I really like it. "Bombs Away" and "Remain" are my favorite. "Both Live" is a hoot.

This album is really good. Stone is quite a talented song writer (not that we didn't know that already). Man, imagine if he had a voice to go with along with the other skills. He could easily have made solo work his full time gig.

I enjoy his voice a lot. I just meant if he had a voice like Hansard or other songwriters that also have pipes he'd be on a whole other level. His music is amazing, and for as much credit as he does get, I still find him to be way underrated as a songwriter.

I can't think of many other active musicians that could pull off Both Live without it somehow turning into a debacle.

I'm so glad Eddie Vedder didn't get his breathy voice on this thing.
