i honestly don't even look at the section stone is doing his thing as a solo.
that's just stone being stone and giving us a very nice gossard riff. i look at it more in the vein of the ending of "lightning bolt", a structured and creative riff.
i'd take stone's riffs over a mccready "wailing" solo any day.

My only guess is that since the song is about traveling to Mars to get away, it's flight updates from the travel there.

This song is so ridonkulously good. Pearl Jam can still melt my face off. The energy of this song is like a love child of Animal and Not For You. Or something like that. Goddamn it’s awesome.
