I think circumventing the 60 vote threshold on the filibuster would do a lot of the good that filibuster removal itself would do, but I also think it likely that this is pre-fight posturing.elliseamos wrote:Just think of all the incremental, centrist progress we could expect if this actually happens!

Keeps the filibuster, but reduces its power (once you are unable to physically hold the floor, an up-or-down vote occurs) and makes using it hard work. I didn’t have “Joe Manchin supports filibuster reform” on my bingo card, either.
Except I can't imagine they are in a hurry to have President Harris in office.Biff Pocoroba wrote:Pat Robertson opened The 700 Club by saying that Biden has dementia and it’s a matter of time before the 25th amendment is invoked. Yeah but I don't think it's about preferring one person in power over the other. It's about being able to say "Look, you can't trust the Dems because they nominated and elected a guy that was clearly unfit to serve."E.H. That's right. I mean just talking about it for 4 years and not actually doing it worked once.Norris wrote:Yeah but I don't think it's about preferring one person in power over the other.
