Haven't heard it yet in higher resolution on qobuz but on Spotify's highest quality on wifi with my headphones it sounded great- much better than the version we had before. I think I like this more than I liked SBWM the first few times I heard that one.

Ok, repeat listens in the car. It's still ok. Kinda typical throwaway "2 minute punchy punk number" bullshit.
Also, we got Supersonic'd again. Great bridge that was the only standout part of the song, that could have been more.
A disappointment after Dark Matter. Let's hope this is the weakest track on the album.
2/5

It sounds better when you listen to it in 0.75x speed, but it doesn't remove the fact that it is a bad song and the production sucks. 2 stars, max.
Edit: this could've been so much better if they'd slowed it down a bit, had some looseness to their playing, removed the gang vocals and yeah yeah yeahs, and had a production that would breathe and wouldn't sound so artificial.

Yes. It’s odd if this is the second single.

I like this considerably more than Dark Matter. Yes, it's a throwaway song at two minutes but there is real energy in the music and some pretty good vocal melody imo. And I don't see any comparison with Supersonic which is a paint by numbers boring ass song. It's still really weird that they released this second.

I absolutely cannot stand the fonts they're using: new "PJ" logo, album cover, and now a visualizer; do they know that the cost of living crisis doesn't have to affect their font choice?

Stupid, baffling choice for a single. But still really fun. When I’m in the mood for this type of song, it will scratch that itch. Things I love about it:
1. Bass coming in hard in the left channel then the explosion in the right
2. The 2nd guitar accenting the first more loudly adds a really cool layer and gives the effect of the volume going up and down slightly. I enjoy the push and pull of that.
3. The relentless pace
4. The sudden halt of the bridge. That beautiful bridge. I want more of it.
5. The way Ed pronounces certain words. Some really good choices here.
6. The briefest pause after the bridge before kicking back into gear
7. Mikes ambulance siren like solo accentuates the back and forth and up and down volume effects in 2. All of it heightens the theme of the song of running frantically and going nowhere. Maybe running in circles.
8. The “fuck off” at the end
9. Jeff’s sliding bass in the bridge, right after the guitars pause. It touches my soul in the right place (my butt).
10. Mike hits a note in the solo at 2:03 precisely that is identical to the final highest note in the RVM solo. Theory: Watt told Mike “remember how you extended the string way up at the end of the RVM solo? Do that here”. That double time on the drums at the end also feels like RVM.
Talking about RVM while describing this song could get you jail time.

Tj wrote:Running is exactly how I want Pearl Jam in 2024. I know they are not Tool Radiohead Pink Floyd. They are not ! What they are is a bass player with 8 min left in the fourth quarter hanging onto a 1 bucket lead. A drummer that really has nothing to prove. A guitarist who saw it through has seen alot happen in his community came out the other side a unpretentious to a fault dork . A lead guitarist that is absolutely living out his rock and fantasy. A singer in the middle of a seventh inning stretch. Having a hell of a good time with what he was dealt.
A group a band making music together having a good time. I don't need more than that . Once in a while lighting will strike and something incredible will be come of it. Here's to you DOTC. Once in while it will be something else. Here's to you Supersonic. I think I will really enjoy Dark Matter for these reasons. Backspacer resonates for these reasons. Maybe Gigaton didn't maybe I could sense the way the album came together.
We are doomed.

Evacuation and Gods Dice are bottom tier Pearl Jam songs. No melody. No tune. Weird for the sake of being weird. They have no right existing on an album as good as Binaural, especially considering the songs they left off.
Running is much better.

Why do they burn a good bridge in this kind of song?
Eddie can't sound any worst.

Talking about Evacuation and God's Dice having no melody after hearing Eddie barking for 2 minutes in an overproduced shitty punk-ish song.
Bad times to be a fan, sadly.
