Agree with all about the craziness of the tracklist. Only my first listen now, but guys, Eddie sounds fucking fantastic, like 100x better than he has on S/T and BS....
My Father's Son is bad ass...

Yeah most albums released via iTunes seem to have that stamped on them now. I guess it means they're somehow optimised for their AAC format? Sounds like a gimmick to me...

Guinness is a great way to cut down your drinking. Four in, and you're full.

Well, it's a diverse album for sure which I like. I think that's its strongest point. There are a couple of real good songs, a couple of shitters, and mostly mediocre to decent songs... at least we have a new PJ album finally

But its so tasty and the night so young. Surely there are techniques of consumption akin to the way one would approach a hot dog eating contest?

Sames. And when I believed the lies of how many calories were in 1 pint...

I don't find this at all. Since it's not carbonated I can put away way more Guinness than anything else I have drank.

Too high of expectations. I thought it was great too.

I don't really tend to put all that much of anything away. 375ml of scotch a night doesn't take up that much belly room.

Okay I loved Pendulum and Yellow Moon instantly, too. And this isn't just new album excitement, they really are excellent songs. This album is all over the place, very difficult to soak in after one listen, but damn there are some huge highlights on this fucker....

solace wrote:as much as i enjoy the album (as i said before, 7/10 overall), there's still not a single song on here i'd consider amazing yet or one of the best songs i've heard this year... the closest might be Pendulum, but melodically it's not that strong, it's mostly based on the music/production.
as weak as Riot Act was, I at least would put 'All or None' in my top 30 PJ tunes... so far nothing on here cracks that mark.
Pendulum isn't the best song this year, or even close. But, it's easily my favorite PJ song in a long time.

It's funny, as much shit as I talked about the inclusion of SBM, this really is a great little version. Totally disagree with most of the listening party reviews, band really hit this one. THAT said, I still think it could have been a killer a bside, I still would have gone with a proper studio version of Of The Earth. Or hell, why not just include both and make it a 13 song LP, who cares anymore if it fits, this fucking thing is all over the place anyway!

Agree about SBM
OTE sounds faaaaaar too much like LB though. But! It would have sat nicely after it.
