it can be, i used to listen to around the bend right before falling asleep a lot of nights because it was nice and soothing. but if you fell asleep because you were bored then thats bad

I wonder how many of Ed's vocal ailments of late couldn't be treated with simple help from a voice coach. It seems like a lot of his tics are essentially defense mechanisms to keep from losing control of his voice (the adding of new syllables in place of bending notes, for instance--very clearly a vocal control device). The voice itself is certainly far from shot. Not to suggest that more professionalism is what Pearl Jam's current repertoire needs, but...

I thought I read that a few years back Ed start working with a voice coach. Maybe he needs to stop.

Maybe he just hired a buddy of Jeff's who's just like "yeah, just bend syllables and add vowels instead of trying to sustain notes and sing with resonance, who will even notice?"

He probably hired Ramones' vocal coach.

I haven't been listening to pj much this past week while i have been working on my mix, but i think today is a good day to give LB a spin, and yellow moon is still right near the top of the album for me

I'd put this in my current top ten, it makes the new record, Ament and PJ keeping it real!

true

maybe one day he'll make this singing thing a full time job and find that exploring technique could be worthwhile

Yellow Moon into FD is awesome. The whole second half of the record is great IMO.

Mike channels his inner David Gilmour on this track. I'd love an album of Yellow Moons...Pearl Jam's Dark Side of the Yellow Moon

I put on LB the other night after a couple of weeks away. Yellow Moon started and I got so jazzed. It's not like I forgot it was on the record or anything. But I was surprised how excited I got when it started. Great tune.
