Rey is an outstanding character and frankly one of my favorite characters in the Star Wars canon, so far. But there is more than enough room for Felicity Jones, who is outstanding actress, and looks like she's going to hit this out of the park.

If she ends up being in tuned with the force, is LV going to shit his pants?

No I'm just skeptical about all of it. There's a good premise but Edwards is a hack imo and it's really relieving not to feel much engagement or excitement about it. I will down the line probably. But this is cash cow fan fiction. That's all. Hard to muster up much enthusiasm for that just now.

Is it just Edwards that has you put off here? Is there another story you would want to see told that doesn't directly revolve around any of the main characters from the OT? What if Abrams was directing this? Would you still be calling it fan fiction?

Honestly though I don't have to like everything from that universe just cos it's based there.
They'll do their best to make this great and any future stand alones even being mad depends on the success of this one.

But, seriously, I'm not a Kasdan fan. And expressed an unease about his involvement in TFA. While I think the movie turned out just fine, I'm actually pretty sure that most of the stuff I liked about the movie was Abrams and not Kasdan. And I think a lot of the overly nostalgic and hacky elements were probably Kasdan's doing.

That's why I think it's worth mentioning this writer. Certainly not a deal breaker, but when one's biggest issues with the trailer we've seen are the dialogue and potential exposition problems, it makes sense that this guy's involvement would raise a red flag of two.

Im fine without it as i believe Star Wars can stand on its own without it. Though, Its a beautiful piece of the star wars mythology so i will never complain if it has a presence in the movie.

Well said, friend. The Force is an amazing piece of imagination and storytelling. I completely agree. But, man, I'd love to see just one SW film told without using much or any of it. This seems like the best opportunity to try. Especially since The Force is such a "forgotten" thing at this point in the mythology.
