The argument was a little over my head, but it sounded good.tragabigzanda wrote:durdencommatyler wrote:https://books.google.com/books?id=4jzEn ... am&f=falsetragabigzanda wrote:Can you remind me the main thrust of Klosterman's Boba Fett/Pearl Jam argument in your signature? That's the easy way out! I'm hoping some weird Slovakian pressing of No Code will give us the full dynamic range we deserve.Wendy Carlos's Twin wrote:The original CD's are definitive, period. No vinyl bullshit. No remasters.nomorecrackpipes wrote:With all the reissues, remasters, and foggy lineage, is there a site that can rank the best "audiophile" or best sounding copies of the releases? Along the lines of the "definitive list of PJ Songs" thread, but for records and/or SACD/DVD audio/HD tracks of the albums? I'd be an undertaking, for sure, and it would have to be a visual spectrum analysis as all of our ears are different.
Discogs is a great resource, but I don't see a ranking there.

Looking at the aggregate of posts from places like Vinyl Collective and the Pit, I haven't seen anyone who's gotten their order from SSD. Still waiting for a shipping estimate for Riot Act and Binaural from Amazon over here.Teeeeeekay wrote:Did anybody who ordered through soundstage get theirs yet? I ordered all 3 lps in an order and a handful of singles in another order.
I ordered all 3 from there and haven't heard a peep regarding shipping. I cancelled the order and am getting them separately through other retailers.Teeeeeekay wrote:Did anybody who ordered through soundstage get theirs yet? I ordered all 3 lps in an order and a handful of singles in another order.
I have such a good pre-order price through Amazon that I'm holding off. My local chain doesn't even have them yet.Monkey_Driven wrote:I ordered all 3 from there and haven't heard a peep regarding shipping. I've been thinking and I'm going to send this to HDtracks in my request for a refund. They say on their web page about how they check for shit like this and yet there it is. I understand it's a corporation but Jesus, they say right up front they hate stuff like this and check for it so it shouldn't have gone through.tragabigzanda wrote:Ok, so I just ran both the S/T Spotify master and the 2017 BOB mix through the Dynamic Range app, and this is what I got:
TL;DR: the Spotify remaster has a dynamic range of 7, while the 2017 remix has a dynamic range of 5. The original CD version had a range of 6, so the 2017 remix is more compressed than the original version; and the Spotify remaster has more dynamics/less compression.

I called today, not because I'm angry but curious. They haven't received their allotment. Guy said they will start shipping next week sometime. Same with 7".Simple Torture wrote:I have such a good pre-order price through Amazon that I'm holding off. I called last Friday and the guy said the same thing (saying they would ship early this week)...Teeeeeekay wrote:I called today, not because I'm angry but curious.
