My girlfriend is a teacher in Texas. I want her to straight up quit at this point rather than go back into this shitshow (her family is rich and could easily take care of her for a while) but this will break her contract and cause her to lose her license, which she obviously doesn't want. I'm starting to freak out. How did we get here?

What job do you suppose is safe to work during the virus? Is working at Wal Mart that much different than being a teacher? How do we decide who needs to be sacrificed?

by the liberal msm lying to us everyday. Don't you read Chuck Woolery?!

As for your girlfriend, I don't know what the teacher union situation is in Texas (I can imagine), but here in Colorado, if a teacher doesn't feel comfortable going back into the classroom and wants to teach online instead, they will be supported.

As it stands now, the school district here would require a doctor-verified disability.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

Yep, as it stands now she has to resign or have a legit medical reason, and as of now she has neither. Texas is so fucked, I already hated our leaders but now I really do.

Broward County just announced that we will "likely" begin the school year fully online. There was some wiggle room about conditions improving, but yeah online it is. Miami-Dade will probably announce the same thing tomorrow. So much for that executive order from the state.

Our school district is doing half and half.

Half the kids are in person Monday and Tuesday. Half the kids are in person Thursday and Friday.

All other days are remote learning.

If my kids aren't allowed to return to school in the fall, I'm going to loot and burn my neighborhood.

Our school district is planning to resume normal 5 day in school. Everyone has to wear masks, lunch is eaten inside the classroom & recess is somehow limited to your own classroom as well. Also, what class you're in will depend on where you live, so every kid in your neighborhood/adjacent neighborhoods stay together, which makes sense to me.

No plan is perfect. The spread is low here right now. They are setting it up so that if someone gets sick, they've been in contact with the fewest possible number of people. And of course it's just tentative. No doubt they pull the plug if a few people get sick. I don't know what else anyone is supposed to do.

I wasn't really on the internet for a week, so now I'm having a difficult time understanding this post. My apologies.

Brother in-law just had a coworker test positive, so he can finally get tested. His work knew about his coworkers possible exposure on Thursday. This is a really dumb way to ration tests.

Nothing is going to do shit. The virus already won.
