As of today I'm not listening to MYM, LB or FD anymore. I don't want to be comparing them, I just want to hear everything as it's meant to sound.

I've avoided those three songs quite easily and my anticipation is now running high.

it's pretty easy to not listen to future days.

Oh I dunno, it's grown on me. It's not been compulsive enjoyment that's led me to listen to it though, just the need to find the actual song under all the mush. By far the worst thing about it is the piano. Ed's song is quite nice underneath. I know that feel.

You know what would be an instant improvement? If that piano part was played on a honky-tonk.

or not played at all, even.

Assuming that was an option... muhahahahaha.

This album is gonna have to be pretty apocalypse-now if that song's gonna work at the end. And it can't be punctuated with any more of them, either.

Also, it's got a much better chance of working if we can take it as not just being about Ed's wife. That'll depend on context. If there's any schmaltz elsewhere, it'll spoil that theory.

The studio versions gonna have to be badass for me to be able to look over "Our future days, days of you and me" bleh.

release, indifference, hey foxymop, around the bend, all those yesterdays, parting ways, all or none, inside job, the end, future days.

maannn... that makes it look even worse. at least if the rest of the album is good we can just stop listening after yellow moon, which will be a great track i just know it.

inside job is much more interesting than future days and didn't already exist on the previous album at the time.

It's more bearable if it's not about Ed's wife. If it's like a collective humanity thing. To me, anyway. It's gonna have to become the new 'No matter how cold the winter...' Even though that's a better line, it's still pretty saccharine.

It's way better than Inside Job. Mike's lyrics don't use a single specific detail. It's all abstract and impossible to interpret. This is about real life, at least. It's not just a bunch of self-help cliches.

Yes it did. The only difference in it, and other songs, is the piano and the production. The production and instrumentation will make FD different from The End, if at all. The only thing that didn't exist before Inside Job was fucking terrible lyrics, so in that sense, it was not better than anything that came before it.

Putting FD after The End actually makes it pretty badass. The End being the end of the world, and FD being the post-apocalypse. This is a love song at the end of the world, and the bridge is describing the natural disasters that killed everyone but the two lovers left standing.
