my season 8 final battle prediction:

we obviously have to have a dragon fight now, and it'll be ice dragon versus drogon/dany. ice dragon beats drogon/dany, possibly kills, and after a season of denying his targaryen heritage, jon finally realizes he must face/accept his ancestry head on and mounts rhaegal to take out the ice dragon, protecting the realm of men from extinction.

it seems kinda obvious, but that's where this show is now.

Finally saw it. More moving pieces into place, but still satisfying. Jon's line about truth was great, glad to see Jamie and Theon move on, the scene with Cersei and Tyrion was very strong, and a great visual at the end. Also enjoyed Littlefinger's death

At what point did Sansa and Arya start conspiring together? Some of their scenes in episode 6 were in private. Was that just for show?

I'm not 100% sure they did at all, until Sansa called out littlefinger

basically Theon's entire storyline once he escaped from Ramsey - dumb

I continue to believe they essentially destroyed character development and storylines for the sake of really cool dragon destroying shit footage

I have them, ill probably start reading them just to stave off the withdrawal im gonna go through waiting a year and a half for them to wrap it up. I also think I'll watch the whole series from the get go like one episode a night sooner or later but i only down loaded up to season 5 so

Have they released any of thw seasons on dvd? Probably not

Anyway, the story differs quite a bit from the series, yeah?

we will see. The books start to get interminable, and the story Martin writes, if he tries to finish this in two books, will end up feeling as contracted as this season

Who had the more hollow character arc, Theon or Littlefinger?

Define hollow.

A lot of wandering around and machinations and ploys for intrigue, all to amount to a hill of beans.

Theon: Ward of Winterfell, wishes to reconnect and empower his own family, betrays the Starks, gets tortured ad nauseam, helps Sansa escape, is otherwise a broken shell of a human just ripe for some redemption, gets kicked in the nuts and becomes a warrior. That's a long and messy journey for an abrupt turn of face. You could tell me that kick to the nuts was the straw that broke the back, but that's a big stretch I think.

Littlefinger: scheming, scheming, scheming, scheming, scheming, scheming, dead. I guess this is fine, if his entire character was ultimately just a plot device to repeatedly set bigger things in motion. I just wish they didn't get Mayor Carcetti to play him with such a stupid voice.

Littlefinger's end was one of the first real instances of full on justice in this show, and an interesting late season counter argument to what had come before - which makes sense as the show starts to make the argument that the things that unite us are more important than the things that divide us

i look forward to seeing how Martin ends the books, if for no other reason to see how much of what people don't care for is the fact that the story is ending.

While I like Theon's story quite a bit, his final scene winning over his men fell a little flat, and the Jon parentage 'reveal' felt anticlimactic (not sure how it could have been otherwise, though).

Theon storyline felt like a bone was thrown to the actor. That guy had put in a lot of work being the humiliating character he was. Felt like this episode was a bone to him for a quick redemption he can carry with him moving forward. I dont know.

well he's not redeemed yet, and Theon is also someone who has suffered beyond the point of needing redemption. He's paid for his crimes (as opposed to Jamie, who needs redemption). But he needs to kill Euron to heal, I think. This was just the start

Sansa and Arya didn't conspire, Sansa realized Arya was testing her and littlefinger was playing her. A grand plot between them would have cheapened the story as neither of them was that type of character. Sansa explained it pretty clearly.
