It balances a nice mixture of 30 Rock, 90s nostalgia, music industry sexism, and good performances.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I keep forgetting about this show. But I've heard nothing but great things. Glad you're digging it.

[Simple Torture]

I started The Investigation on HBO and feel like I'm going to stick with it. Very Scandinavian, very dour.

This was very good. It follows a lot of beats that you see in murder investigation shows, but the acting was great, it was the sort of heady nuts-and-bolts investigation stuff that I find fascinating, and the actor who played Anikan Skywalker's mother in the prequels was in it.

One of the main characters wears glasses that magnifies his eyes so they look like they're *slightly* too big for his face, which I found to be off-putting in a very cool way, because there are a lot of shots of this guy head-on.

It did leave out a good amount of stuff you see in police procedurals, which was a unique approach, too.

Anybody else watching Big Sky? It features a pretty good cast and I'm glad I still get to see Lagertha on tv (Katheryn Winnick from Vikings).
