How is it dangling? To me it shows that you don't have to be a fucking Skywalker to be a Jedi. There is hope in this new era that the force can be in anyone. They even touched on it at the end of the movie with that kid. So why isn't it also empowering that this girl that was sold off by her parents become a powerful Jedi? Going back and saying "oh, sorry, our bad, Luke is her daddy or Palps is her daddy" just cheapens the whole message. There is no dangling unless you WANT her to have some royal lineage.

All that fuzz about ¨ey anyone can be a jedi¨ ....SW always established that. Enough with that.

It’s not new information and the idea that anyone can use the force is a misreading of it specifically broom boy. There always was and will be force sensitive kids. It wasn’t ‘new’ doing that just the first time we’d seen it onscreen.

its not saying "anyone can use the force" its saying you dont have to be from someone special (A skywalker) to be force sensitive. Big difference.

And it also doesn't negate the midicholrian bullshit that lucas put forth. It all still fits within the realm and universe of star wars mythology

All of those kids that were slaughtered in the jedi temple...did they all have to be related to skywalker/yoda/windu or whoever? Fuck no. Many of those kids could have fucking come from nowhere and been born to nobody as well.

You don't have to be a Skywalker to use the force. Everyone knows this.

In this saga it is special to be a Skywalker, because it's the saga about the Skywalkers. Any other Star Wars story already released and forthcoming will not be about the Skywalkers. Yoda, Obi Wan, Qui Gonn, etc etc not Skywalkers.

Rey can find out more about her background, and it ruins nothing.

In this saga of nine episodes, it would also make sense that she had something to do with the Skywalkers, as its a story about them.

Also making her a Skywalker would just be such a predictable thing to do.

God I hope baby Yoda grows up to be Rey

All im saying is Rey´s parents being something else that drinkers doesnt undo anything on TLJ. It wasnt new, we always knew force sensitives could come from anywhere.

I don't mind finding out more about her background if it means her parents were still nobodies. Maybe they were nobodies that interacted with Luke somehow? Lots of room to explore there.

My concern is that they are changing her background for fan service purposes. We don't NEED to know more. The narrative works without that information.

Because they want to make money (aka making fans happy after the TLJ backlash) AND due to the drama behind the scenes with the making of RotS. It may very well turn out ok though.
