Bump for those that need it. Sadly this antiquated board doesn't have a sticky post feature. Only sticky thread.

It sounds like Wotman really put Pearl Jam in their tempo sweet spot for both the fast and slower songs. Less spritz more licks :P

The Ed/Stone balance got way out of whack

Not to head down drummer lane again but both those guys had groove. Dave had a tight strut while Jack had a rolling stroll.

Strangely both worked on most songs (that they both played).

Unlike previous records which took years to complete with several group & individual recording sessions, Dark Matter was created in just three weeks at Shangri-La Studios with the entire band playing together with a burst of inspiration.

Looking forward to getting whatever we're getting tomorrow, but it remains strange to me how obsessed this band seems to be with needing to get albums done in as short an amount of recording time as possible, like it's the only way for them to think if something's really been inspired.

Isn't that the opposite of how Gigaton was made though?

working quickly could mean more cutting and pasting in protools and using less gear, rather than capturing great takes live in a room

Yeah, that seemed to be a big exception to the 20+ year rule; it's just strange. It's very much seems influenced by Neil's typical approach, but it's kind of the only way their records are like his.
