can they even do that? And if the WH could order that, can't the hospitals just send a copy to the WH and also send a copy to CDC, like CC them on the email? It's not like the data can't be duplicated infinity times in this day and age.
I'm not sure what mechanisms are in place. I'm sure there's ways to fight against it. But what counter measures does the administration have? The act itself, though, the order, is insane and super scary in and of itself. That the WH wants to deny the information and prohibit its spread should piss people the fuck off.
At the State Health Department level, I can assure you that we would completely ignore that order and keep sending stuff to CDC. We MIGHT send a copy to the White House, but it's not like we have any mechanism for reporting information other than what the CDC gives us. I'd keep logging into whatever portal I'm supposed to be using and plugging info in.
hypocrisy as usual from Trump who criticized China for manipulating their infection numbers and now wants to manipulate the U.S. infection numbers

Proof that not wearing a mask is lethal, https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/ ... -1.5650761. Or does this belong in the cops thread. Life is entangling.

Or de-incarcerating children.

Its giving the game away a bit when teachers are demanding to stay out of the classroom and then simultaneously attack home schoolers.

Our school district came out with its plan yesterday. Procedures based on warning level each county in the state is currently in. At the highest level it's remote learning 100% of the time. Next level down, where we are currently at, kids are split into two groups and go every other day with masks and other safety procedures in place (one way hallways, expanded lunch areas, no field trips). And at the lowest level, which Cuyahoga County won't get to, it's everybody 5 days a week but safety measures still in place.

That said, we're still opting into online learning for our oldest who is entering kindergarten this year. It's going to suck that he won't be around the other kids his age to socialize and that was our main concern but we will give it a shot for the first semester at least.

So that's the plan we're dealing with.

Our state (NC) announced a hybrid plan. Our particular district is dividing kids into three groups. They will go to school for one week with their group, then be home for two weeks while the other two groups go to school. Masks required at all times. Not sure what will happen with PE

The Tournament of Roses parade for New Year's Day has been canceled for the first time since World War II.
Meanwhile our governor has rescinded all local municipalities' mask ordinances.

Sounds similar to our district's plan except kids are split into cohorts that go in person either m-t or th-f. Wednesday is a cleaning day. 1-3 graders are in person 4 days a week. We haven't decided what we'll do with our kindergartner yet. There's a possibility my mom (ret. teacher) will be moving to the area. If that happens we might see if she'd be interested in homeschooling her granddaughter... :/

This isn't very progressive of me, but part of me wishes insurance required you to pay more for healthcare that is a result of your own refusal to follow rules and laws.

This is true, no doubt, in most cases...

What we are considering is three families grouping together and each of the parents assumes the role of in-house teacher for one day a week.
... but if it comes to it, this is what we're doing too. And we're extra lucky, because one of the neighbors in the group is a nurse who works 3 long night shifts a week, but 2 are on weekends, so she's basically offered to do most of it.
