Does the board think that the damage this administration/cult is doing to the US is only temporary or will it be irreparable?

From the outside looking in I'm not sure that significant gains in the midterms and a reciprocal number of executive orders from a Democratic president in 2028 will be enough to wind all of this bullshit back.

Very possibly irreparable for a long time. The reputational damage internationally too. Clown world.

Yeah the reputational part is huge but the damage to your electoral system and the voting cohort might be even more indelible.

And that's without their cult godking going for a third consecutive term...

First of all, I don’t have any presumptions about the functionality of American democracy in the midterms.

Second of all, any American on this board who tells you that the damage will resolve within their lifetime is lying to you or to themselves, presumably because the truth feels too much like losing.

Immigrants who came here to study and work have produced one third of all US patents since 1990. They account for more than half of all medical innovations in the 21st-century.

And if you think that what’s happening right now is going to keep future innovators away, wait until you see what happens next.

If I’m a company that’s based anywhere else in the world and I have been relying on materials or products from the US, I’m now frantically searching for alternative suppliers. How insanely sweet a deal would you have to offer me in the future, to make risking that level of instability again worth it? How much would the US have to give up in a future trade deal, to make that trade deal seem anything but toxic?

And if you think that what’s happening right now is going to make people hesitant to do business with us, wait until you see what happens next.

It goes on and on and on like that. It’s very hard, in times of momentous change, to come to terms with just how much the world you have known is over. But the seismic shift happening in the world order today will be in history books. And if you think that I’m wrong, wait until you see what happens next.

I had a simliar thought. Trump burning so many bridges it allows other countries to actively find other avenues to get their resources or products. By the time Trump is out of office it would be too late to salvage any meaningful trade agreements.

Is there actual evidence of a reduction in the quality of foreign students applying to US colleges and universities as a result of Trump's actions in the last 60 days?
