I really like how heavy it is when I listen to it now, whereas when I listened to it upon release, I really liked the singles and the feeling that came along with being the only kid in my school who owned the CD.

The kick drum on Big Thief's "Not" sounds like shit. Makes a fart/quack sound every time he hits it in the heavier parts of the song.

If we are talking about the same thing, what you're hearing there is the sound of the bass guitar. It's an odd tone and it coincides with the kick drum, but I'm pretty sure that's the bass being plucked

That's 100% the bass, I hear it so clearly. I agree that it is mixed weird and I totally get how it sounds like the kick drum, but check out the run it does at 1:48... that's not the kick drum. It's the plucky pluck bass sound

There are so many albums out there that I wonder why we won't hear. The talk about STP/Chester made me think about the stuff that he did with Velvet Revolver after Scott left, as well as the stuff that Corey Taylor of Slipknot recorded with them.

I've kinda started going into a music 'dark period' in which I don't really care about new music or emerging artists, nor do I care to go to see live music at all. This is really strange for me, as I have always been one of those list junkies. By now, I'd have had my 2019 top ten albums (with dozens of honorable mentions), top ten concerts of the year, checking out local club gigs and going for broke, hitting the big arena shows.

Interestingly, this has coincided with a major uptick in playing the guitar and writing songs. Not sure if it's this or I'm just getting old and growing out of all the idol worship bullshit.
