Families of sailors aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln are sounding the alarm about exhaustion, deteriorating morale and sailors reaching a breaking point.

Multiple sailors have reportedly attempted to go overboard during the carrier’s extended deployment. One sailor’s wife says her husband is now on medical hold after trying to jump from the ship. Another family member says her husband stopped a fellow sailor from going overboard.

The Lincoln has now been deployed for more than eight months and has spent roughly 250 consecutive days at sea, including 40 days of continuous combat operations. The deployment was originally expected to end in May, but there is still no publicly announced return date.

There are roughly 5,000 sailors and Marines aboard. Thousands of people with spouses, children, parents and other loved ones waiting for them at home.

About 200 family members recently attended a meeting with Navy officials in San Diego. One spouse told officials that her husband had messaged her that very day saying he hoped he wouldn’t wake up the next morning.

Families have also raised concerns about food and supplies, broken toilets and laundry facilities, mildew and other living conditions aboard the carrier. The Navy has disputed some reports about conditions and says sailors have access to counselors, chaplains, doctors and other mental-health resources. Additional mental-health professionals are reportedly being sent to the ship.

The USS Theodore Roosevelt is being prepared to relieve the Lincoln, but officials have not publicly said exactly when that will happen.

Whatever your politics, this shouldn’t be partisan.

If sailors are so exhausted and distressed that people are trying to jump off an aircraft carrier, that is a flashing red warning light.

These men and women signed up to serve their country. That doesn’t mean their physical and mental well-being becomes expendable.

Supporting the troops has to mean more than saying the words.

Bring these sailors relief. Give their families answers. And take what they’re telling us seriously before another family gets the phone call they’re terrified of receiving.

A glimmer of good news today



Far-right MAGA troll Milo Yiannopoulos—Kanye’s former chief of staff, YE24 political operative, and professional culture-war agitator—has been detained by ICE in Louisiana.

Sources say he was grabbed at an airport. He’s now sitting in an ICE facility. Circumstances remain unclear.

The same Milo who spent years cheering the most punitive immigration crackdowns, dunking on “illegals,” and treating ICE as holy writ now finds himself on the receiving end.

The man who built a brand on sneering at immigrants and refugees is learning, in real time, that “deport them all” rhetoric has a way of circling back when your own paperwork isn’t airtight.

He’s a British citizen who spent years in the U.S. orbit of MAGA media and celebrity politics. The movement that treats foreign-born critics as existential threats suddenly has one of its own loudest voices in federal custody. No word yet on whether this is a visa issue, overstay, or something else—but the optics write themselves.

Right-wingers spent a decade demanding more ICE, more raids, more “America First” border theater. They rarely imagined the machinery would ever notice one of their own. When it does, expect the usual script: sudden concern for due process, claims of targeting, and silence about the policies they cheered when they were aimed at people they didn’t like.

Nepal floods apparently. According to BBC (article from Sep 1st) there are more than 1000 dead already and about 4000 people are missing, but the media coverage pretty much died out after the first week. As a comparison, about 1400 people died in hurricane Katrina and the news coverage was endless.

To be fair, Katrina was an ongoing clusterfuck mostly due to incompetent government that kept it newsworthy.

I guess my point is that we don't really know what kind of a clusterfuck the situation in Nepal is because we don't get to hear how the rescue missions are going, whether they have enough resources, are the people leading the rescue missions competent, how were they prepared for something like this to happen etc. There was an article right after it happened how they had no warning system in place and that some people were saved because they received phone calls from others upstream who warned them about what's coming.

Maybe I'm wrong but it just seems that the western media doesn't really want to put the effort and send journalists there to report about this stuff.

i dont know. there are a lot of pieces to the puzzle that seem strange. i saw something where is friends with someone who is also friends with tswift and those two are very pro-israel but if ed was so pro-israel why didnt he kick macklemoore off sooner? youd think the jewish costume he wore would garner eds attention.
