My kids recently had a very brief P!nk phase. So I played P!nk on Pandora shuffle and you guys after a few songs I wanted to walk into a wood chipper.

The Pink song "So What" is one of the most irritating riffs in all of popular music, right up there with "Angel in the Centerfold."

The only good song of theirs. If anyone can rec any other songs that goes to that territory please let me know. The rest of that album disappointed me. The crazy horse jam and her growl mid last verse promise so much.

That I've heard. And I've only heard that album. I like Not so work from there and impress me.

I’ve never enjoyed The Beach Boys. Not one song. They were always such a drain to listen to, even in their sunny California sound. Today for about the 20th time, I tried to listen to Pet Sounds, bc it’s one of those albums that I know I need to like, dammit! But I just never did. While folding some laundry this morning, I threw it on, and suddenly it just clicked, and I’ve found myself thoroughly enjoying this album.

I listened to that song (hoping, yet disappointed, to hear the "fart/quack" sound) and it really, really wasn't my thing.
I've never really enjoyed the Beach Boys either. There's a handful of individual songs (usually album tracks) I like, even love, but on the whole they don't connect for me. I went through a stage of listening to Dennis Wilson's Pacific Ocean Blue a lot, though I probably haven't thrown it on in at least ten years (maybe today).

I think I realize what changed for me. Forever, I had listened to these songs as sappy love songs. The song arrangements were amazing, but the instrumentation and vibe just made it way too sappy.
Then about 10 years ago, maybe from here, I had read that it’s actually quite a sad album. So I framed the songs in a “love loss” or “the girl will never love me” sort of way. But it still didn’t work for me.
Today, I started listening to the songs from almost the girl’s perspective. Or, from the perspective of an absolute psychopath, who probably has a restraining order, writing songs about the girl he’s obsessing over. that made the songs so much more intense and interesting, and quite scary. I love it from that perspective.
Maybe that’s how you’re supposed to look at it, no idea.

I have only heard the hits really and Pet Sounds. The latter is great. Kokomo sucks. It ruined ever really liking them.

Kokomo is what set their standard for me, which is almost why I couldn’t stomach them for nearly 25 years. Well, that and the awful stint they did with Uncle Jesse on drums on Full House.

Outside of Pet Sounds (which I don't really get but I assume is great), Beach Boys are a total embarrassment.

I wonder if Jeffrey Epstein’s favorite song was Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “What’s Your Name”?

Brian Wilson solo-Melt Away, Beach Boys-Angel Come Home(Dennis Wilson on vocals) are both great songs. Listen to The Beach Boys Love You album for something different(supposedly Peter Buck's favorite album of theirs).

It's like if 311 suddenly made one of the greatest albums ever.

We are one stop on a 90's themed bar crawl today. It's not really my thing but lots of people signed up.
Anyway, as part of the agreement with the organizers, I agreed to play all 90's music today. Winona's Big Brown Beaver just came on the playlist, followed by a song from Hum.
The organizer just asked me why I wasn't playing 90s music.
