Im even okay with the plastic and stuff. Its not like the players are the ones cleaning up the room. That's just folks trying to make their damned job easier.

The cubs had dance parties after regular season wins. Let the guys have fun and maybe 65 yr old men listening to radio broadcasts in beat up rocking chairs wont be the MLBs primary demographic.

Haha. For the record, every season is a failure unless you win a Cup and I assume Yankees fans feel the same way about a World Series.

Anyways, there are two points in the mix here:

1) All of MLB celebrates waaay too much. I never meant to point the finger at TO. I'll use hockey as my point of reference because it's the sport I watch the most - there is a mild-celebration after you win the conference final but the teams won't even touch the trophy because they know it doesn't mean shit. Champagne only comes out for a championship. I don't watch basketball but I get the feeling it's the same thing (?)

2) Having a 1st round playoff series handed to you due to 3 pathetic fielding errors is not exactly a monumental achievement in National sporting history. It's great for the city of Toronto, but the rest of us are going to hold onto a higher standard.

1) I mentioned this previously, but I don't like the organized celebrations either. So I'm on board for that. I want to see players spontaneously celebrating, though, and running out onto the field and jumping around together. They're getting paid millions of dollars to play a child's game. They should be able to have some fun, and the fans should have fun watching. As for not touching the trophy, they only do that because they're superstitious. Hockey fans (and most players) have a stick up their ass about having fun. The average hockey fan would probably think Brian McCann is the best.

2) It doesn't matter how they won. They had a historic 2nd half, struggled for two games and found themselves on the brink of elimination, only to come back and win three straight games in dramatic fashion. It was amazing. It seems like a pretty standard Canadiens/Yankees fan reaction to not enjoy that kind of thing, though; your idea of a "higher standard" is really just years of entitlement from not knowing what it's like to really struggle.

The only thing I don't like about it is that I want to see a spontaneous celebration because the players are excited, not because "Alright, we won the big game, let's go promote Budweiser and Oakley for a bit".

I'm a Yankees fan. And, I'm all for how these teams have celebrated. They certainly deserve to enjoy it.

I can't imagine a Canadians fan under 40 would have any reason to have a "higher standard"

The only thing worse is when people write change-up. THERE IS NO SUCH PITCH! It's change O.P. It stands for change of pace. Since almost every outlet does this incorrectly, it is accepted. Sigh.

Christopher Lloyd (Doc Brown) wants to throw out the first pitch if the Cubs make the World Series. That would be the tops.

God Bless America is probably my least favourite part of a baseball game.
