I think there's like a 50% chance it goes the way of other HBO miniseries (True Detective, Sharp Objects) and falls off a cliff.

Spoiler: show
I'm thinking it's either Lori or the son and the dad is probably the Father. Bobby has some involvement or was straight up framed. We didnt get the entire convo with Lori and her husband. Along with their son's violent outburst at school - something screwy is afoot.
Excited for next week's finale :P
I'm starting to think you're right about the whodunnit.

I hope her character dies in a video editing accident
thats not going to happen. Why the hate? she is actually a pretty compelling character.

I think she's a fine character and we all know trag has issues with women but one big reason I'm not at all confident they'll stick the landing next week is that scene with Siobhan where she drunkenly starts berating Mare for the exact same thing she *just happened* to be discussing in therapy earlier that day. Not the fault of her character specifically but a really overwrought, on the nose scene that doesn't bode well.

That's quite a different thing than what I'm describing

You don't like the character because she's too self-assured and forthright, especially for a teenager. I don't like that scene because it's one of the first times they try to show Mare facing up to her past traumas and they handled it with all the gracefulness of Days of Our Lives.

yeah, they could have told us earlier that she was the one who found her brother maybe? or have Mare discuss about it earlier with the shrink...maybe yes.
I thought Siobhan having doubts about her partner, getting wasted and then having a crisis about everything was alright for a teenager. She seems to be in control but thats actually not true of course, kinda like Mare.

It might not be the best character of all times but its pretty compelling one.

Yes, exactly, it has nothing to do with her character being too self-assured and everything to do with it felt like paint by numbers, better make Mare demonstrate some emotional growth right about now!

I also agree with this, with the understanding that actually very few of these characters are particularly well written and that the show is, as many have pointed out, driven almost entirely by mood and Winslet's acting (and to a lesser extent, Evan Peters'). There's a number of characters who I felt are significantly worse than Siobhan's (the chief, Dylan, Jess, the Ross patriarch). Which is why I worry the ending might be comic book goofy.

It's hard when you're the only one in your high school listening to Phoebe Bridgers like all the other aging millennials.

Finale prediction: her college girlfriend does not get charged with statutory rape
Why would she?

The least realistic part of this entire show is the idea that the "chair of media studies" can get a random Pennsylvania high school student into one of the most competitive schools in the country long after the admissions window has closed.
