He was rambling about groceries being an old fashioned word. Pretty sure he thinks all food is procured via drive thru.

as easy to believe as this is this did not happen
US President Donald Trump announced reciprocal tariffs on several countries, including India, China, Brazil, Japan, and the European Union, on Wednesday. During his address, Trump referenced the late automobile executive Lee Iacocca, saying, “I watched a gentleman today on television who used to work with Lee Iacocca, a very respected automobile person.” He described the man as “an older guy, real pro, really top guy with Lee Iacocca.”
POTUS claimed the man was asked by the interviewer what he thought of “what Trump is doing from the automobile standpoint.”
According to Trump, the man responded, “I never thought I’d see the day when this would happen, where somebody had the courage to go and do what has to be done. This is transforming our nation. Our entire nation is going to be transformed not only with the cars, but on every single other item that's built. We're going to become an industrial powerhouse.”

is that real. It sounds like something he'd say.
You can tell when he's reading a script and when he's speaking on his own. Sentence structure decreases and simple word usage increases. I think his intelligence is 7th grade level.

Yep. Even though I dislike Trump, it's good to have the facts straight no matter what.

I wish people would understand that tariffs won't necessarily spike inflation because if they happen not to all the MAGA people are gonna take an unearned victory lap.
But either way, imagine thinking that raising taxes and decreasing people's purchasing power is the path to prosperity.

I’ve seen a lot more stock market talk than inflation.
But in both cases, I think it’s just that people like hard numbers as a way of conceptualizing complex things. Simplification, like rounding, will always result in some degradation of accuracy.
On the plus side, there’s this: anybody who could stand in a fractured and smoking economy and still be susceptible to “see, inflation didn’t spike like they said that it would“ is definitely going to find a self-protective narrative regardless. If all else fails, they’ll just say that a cabal of Satan-worshiping Democrats conspired with globalist elites and foreign governments** to destroy Donald Trump‘s beautiful attempt to remake our beautiful economy.
But most of the people you might hear talking about inflation right now are not going to give two shits about low inflation, if their own lives are experientially impacted by a massive economic downturn. Inflation not spiking is a real uninteresting technicality, if I lost my job and my wife’s parents had to move in with us.
