Guys I will get all these suggestions for lyrics to Ed ASAP. Hopefully he still has enough time to retrofit the lyrics if need be.
*fingers crossed*

I'm picturing a tune about an American family talking about their day 'round the dinner table, their faith, and pure excitement in shooting things that are alive...all in a very sarcastic Ed way.
It's gotta be a surburban Conservative America type of deal.
As long as Ed takes some shots at Liberals, too. I'm unenrolled (independent) and not a big fan of either party's behavior.
I don't know much about American politics but given that Bushleaguer was the only effectively partisan 'political' song he's done, he's probably going to go principled and issue-based on this one. At the very least, I don't see him actually yelling any politician's names on it.
Yeah, I don't mean that he has to call out any names, but I'd be fine with him poking holes in America's welfare system (we tend to give a lot of money to people who are dead with these EBT cards) and on the other side you've got the whole gun debate. Lots of material out there. Oh, and the longest war in our history in Afghanistan.
You want him to address welfare in song?
I think mocking the pharmaceutical endorsed Obamacare would be much easier, effective, and likely than going after a program that regardless of its many faults has as a goal something that he probably agrees with.
If any of my PJ music goes anti-welfare I'm going to burn it. Just FYI.
I don't think they'd ever go anti-welfare, but maybe anti-welfare abuse....like people who double park their Lexus while they go inside money box to cash their welfare checks...
It's difficult to explain. The government in the UK are using the general feeling of distaste / hatred against 'benefit scroungers' which the country has, to push several changes to the benefit system which are damaging disabled people's lives. And they're using anti-welfare propaganda to do it. Our system is broken, they say. Well, it is now, but only since they started to 'reform' it. They're Conservatives and they've never liked the Welfare State as a blanket principle, so they're dismantling it. That's the plain and simple fact. But they dress it up as necessary. This is why I don't / won't respond well to any complaints against those 'abusing the system'. We never know who is abusing the system, although we all think we know.

Hey, in Florida if you abuse a social program enough you get really rich and then get to be governor!

That is very true my friend.

Ha, pretty sure that's not Eddie's axe to grind.

It really does look like a Green Day thing, or even an Offspring thing, like the artwork from Americana. Between that and how Foo Fightersy that short clip is, my expectations aren't very high.

The thing is, I had no problem with the Greenday thing OR the Offspring thing, other than the fact I don't like Greenday or Offspring. So I'm good.

agree with everything you say here - I work with plenty of charities that place welfare folks on a positive path to employment and/or education. Working a lot with the skills gap and areas of workforce development.

Over here, there's a lot of effort to "save money" on the benefits bill (whatever the reason is for that) but none to reform the work and employment environment so that it's more accessible to disabled and sick people (both in terms of finding jobs *and* keeping them, with all the necessary extra support that might entail). The latter is an age-old problem that at least New Labour (which I'm not a fan of either) attempted years ago, even if that attempt was feeble.

No, now were back on track. As Pearl Jam intended.
