I think I gave Strat an aneurysm by mentioning the 2020 election yesterday, but today I also had this thought: is John Kasich better positioned than anyone else to give it a go? Never even pretended he'd support Trump, governor of a very important state, still pretty popular, sneakily conservative on social issues to help rile up another part of the base. Thoughts?

He'd probably do well. Add Ben Sasse or someone else untainted and you'd have something. I'd be surprised if that happens tho.
They are talking about possible "political reform" talking points in that snippet above. So "dicey" means "saying this would open her up to attacks from the right," which is pretty accurate.
If there's something astonishing about these emails dumps, it's that there's been so little there that's astonishing. "Gasp! Hillary's aides got upset that she called herself a moderate in an interview after they had talked her up as progressive! Scandal!"
another establishment politician worried about the truth coming out
let's expose all of these crooks

This shit scares the hell out of me. Republicans that were rightfully scary before Trump entered the picture will seem reasonable by comparison.

there are many more substantial things that have come out, aside from the above which shows her own team knows how dirty she is. to that point..
Mrs. Clinton’s State Department, as documents obtained under the Freedom of Information Act show, took special care of donors to the Clinton Foundation. In a series of 2010 emails, a senior aide to Mrs. Clinton asked a foundation official to let her know which groups offering assistance with the Haitian earthquake relief were “FOB” (Friends of Bill) or “WJC VIPs” (William Jefferson Clinton VIPs). Those who made the cut appear to have been teed up for contracts. Those who weren’t? Routed to a standard government website.

The problem for Trump seems to be that both of these things (Trump's many issues and Clinton's Wikileaks e-mails) basically reinforce what we already knew about each candidate, namely that Clinton is a compromised 'insider' politician , while Trump is vile scum. Presently, it seems that the Trump revelation that he is what everyone feared he is is having a larger impact than having Clinton's reputation be reinforced.

That's certainly what the media is portraying.

My wife used the word "mulatto" recently in conversation, somehow not realizing that it can be taken offensively. I've brought it up about 100x since then.
