There's a part of me that's scared for the liberal agenda run amok scenario. After we go to war with Iran, and nuke NK, and Trump gets impeached for peeing on Obama's birth certificate, and the GOP totally collapses...Then what happens? Free abortions at Starbucks? The militias aren't going to take that lying down.

None of this is going to matter. His base is so entrenched and the GOP so frightened of losing that base that nothing will be done. At this point, I don’t think there is anything heinous enough for him to do that would matter to any of them.

I think a good bit of what Seth Abraham is referencing comes from Christopther Steele's dossier on Trump. The MI6 agent that took on FIFA.

For now, I'm assuming it's a distraction. So much negative press coming out in a single day, especially the bit about the dossier, that he threw out one of his "you don't dare ignore it" zingers that goes nowhere.

Currently:
- Their popularity is in free fall (62% unfavorable, compared to 48% and improving for the Democrat party)
- Their big money donors are cutting them off until they make good on promises that have grown increasingly unpopular with everyone but the base (and sometimes even them).
- Speaking of the base...it's turned into a real rancid party.
- Their own president and media team are openly trying to primary many of them, and blaming them MORE THAN DEMOCRATS for the lack of momentum.
- Their struggle with the youth vote is largely a struggle with minority voters...which is a potential death sentence they've fought against for years and are now openly courting.

What they're doing so far:
- Some are going full Trumpistan, with two sitting members of the legislative branch going so far as to suggest the NC white power demonstration was a ploy by Soros (christ...).
- Most of the rest are on radio silence.
- Paul Ryan is still a coward.

I expect this very minor gun control measure they're talking about and a DACA-but-no-more bill to pass, purely so they can say "look, we're not THOSE guys, you know?" And also so they can deal make to get the tax monstrosity through. Assuming Miller doesn't fuck the DACA deal.

But it's just so not enough for a rebrand, and they can't afford that right now anyway. Their own messaging system is accusing them of giving up the dream. I have no idea what they do.

The era of the GOP we all know and love is over, and I'm not being hyperbolic. The "fiscal conservative/social liberal" type, like my in-laws, are now without a party; the bible thumpers are constantly having to re-jigger their understanding of the Bible so they can justify their support; and the Jeff Foxworthy types are gravitating towards more varied, and more splintered, ideologies. I'm not suggesting the GOP brand name is done; just that the platform I've watched evolve since the Reagan days has already collapsed, but no one has written the obituary yet.
