Yeah. I think I'm imagining something like Wilco's "Reservations", but with the piano being much less front-and-center.
This is why it will never happen.
Yup

I actually like the strings on this one. Good vocal melody. Gross lyrics. That piano is terrible.

Gah... fuck you, O'Brien.

I want Pearl Jam back. Not Eddie and the O'Briens.

I guess I think this song is nice enough, but it doesn't really feel earned. There's a lot of drama poured all over it, and I feel it should end a longer, more dramatic album.

without the throw away lead up tracks. I'm sure there are folks who like them but the final 4 tracks are weak and weird.

I don't think they're weak, but they don't set up the contemplative mood of the final song, so it sounds like farce instead of emotional. I mean, nothing even remotely "silly" should be anywhere near it, and LTRP is three songs away I think?

9. LTRP
10. SBM
11. YM
12. FD

Odd. Fact.

My hopes that it will be better than the live version came true! That's something. I like the violin quite a bit.

Odd. Fact.
I think SBM, YM and FD work well together because they're all variations on "folk / country". And in as much as the T.Rex camp-blues song sets them up, it makes sense theoretically. T.Rex were a folk band before pretty much inventing glam rock, so...

It's like a different ep stuck on the end of a promising album

The way the guitar is kind of melting together with the violin in the "solo" is pretty cool.

I'd much rather that than having these tracks dotted around. It's like a little unplugged set at the end of a very short gig.

Eddie doing background vocals for himself and the instrumentalization in the bridge is also cool. Ah fuck it, I kind of dig this song.

Maybe this album is kind of designed to be retracked... with a few E.P arrangements possible.

I'd say that it was designed in 3 acts but the MFS>Sirens kills that. Plus I don't think LB partners well with Infallible>Pendulum>SW.
