the "proper response" is to think about whether the comedy that has made you rich is, in fact, a steaming pile of dog shit

I've posted here about getting in a physical altercation with a dude who shoved my partner to the ground at a concert. There's a world of distance between that and a joke about hair. It seems on-its-face (get it) toxic and immature to escalate that to a physical confrontation, not to mention oddly paternalistic.

if a white dude had done it we'd all be talking about how hilariously entertaining it was
This is the conversation we were having earlier in the thread! About what good TV it was

What if Chris Rock fell backwards, hit his head, and got concussed (or worse)? I assume you’d think he still had it coming, right?

bullshit

My entire point is that I didn't do "this". I am remarking on the clear difference in circumstance and proportionality. If Chris Rock had shoved Jada Pinkett Smith to the ground, do you think I'd be arguing about Will Smith giving him what-for?

so you're arguing that a joke about Jada's hair loss is not anything like an equivalent act of violence to shoving her to the ground

I knew that; my response is I disagree, and tell me something fucking original
