I'm thinking about starting up some baseball traveling next summer with a friend of mine, if he's down for it. Maybe I'll go to Tiger Stadium and see my boy Jose.

I've been to 15 current parks and I think 5 former parks.

I've only been to Fenway and whatever they call San Francisco's ballpark now.

anyways, I love me some Jose Iglesias.

I liked the trade, but man, it was fun watching Iglesias play.

I didn't like the trade then and I still don't like it.

I think getting Peavy for just Iglesias was a good trade. I'm not under any delusions about what Peavy is now, but I still think he is a good starting pitcher(and has been thus far for the Sox.) They sold high on Iglesias, and with Bogaerts(still dont know if I'm spelling that right) and a couple other guys in the system at SS, he was expendible. He is the best fielder I've ever seen, though.

I just don't think Peavy was worth it, and I don't think Iglesias was as much the odd man out in the infield as people made him out to be post trade. If we're sticking with Middlebrooks you move him to 1st, Bogaerts to 3rd, and Iglesias at SS. With Pedroia at 2b that is one sick fucking infield and Middlebrooks is your weakest link.

Yeah, I do think Peavy was worth it. I'm a big Peavy guy. Iglesias is a slick fielding no bat middle infielder, not the hardest thing to find. I dont have a problem trading that for a middle of the rotation starter when the team you are battling for the playoffs is loaded with starting pitching. I dont want it to sound like I dont like Iglesias though, I fucking loved watching that kid play.

You're underselling his defense. Dude is fucking Ozzie Smith out there. Not with a bat, but definitely with the glove. Speaking of Ozzie Smith, besides hitting 258 his rookie year, he hovered around 220 for 3 years, then hovered around 245 for 3 more, and didn't crack 260 until he was 30 years old.

Your stance isn't unreasonable, for sure. If Iglesias never breaks 220 for more than a season than whatever, but Peavy isn't going to help us get a world series ring. He's just not that type of difference maker.

Maybe being the guy that keeps people like Allen Webster and Steven Wright off the playoff roster is what makes him the difference. Also, I just have a hunch that Dempster is going to be a crucial reliever for this team in the postseason, and Peavy makes that possible.
