I'm kinda with you. There are definitely some really good ones (some Bond films, the first Bourne), but overall the genre tends to be a bit droopy and tedious to me. Especially in the '60s and '70s - a lot of those films are slow and grim as death, and not in an interesting way.
Totally agree. Way too many and way too many average, dull movies. The last spy movies I've enjoyed were Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy and A Most Wanted Man. I also love John Le Carre novels but besides those movies none were good or interested me.
A Most Wanted Man was sublime.

It's set to open around Christmas and will be timed nicely with the end of the regular season and the start of the playoffs. I hope the movie brings more attention to the NFL's shitty, almost inhuman stance on CTE and the NFL and its owners lose billions in settlements. If a government organization did the same thing the America public would be outraged, but we're talking about football here. America, fuck yeah!
David Morse cast as Mike Webster.

I loved the book, but A Walk in the Woods looks fucking terrible.

My wife and I were talking about how often we go the movies lately, and it's kind of crazy. Since last Sunday (the 16th), I have gone to the movies seven times.

I just watched E.T. for the first time since I was a kid. It completely wrecked me. Spielberg was an astonishingly great filmmaker in his prime.
