Editing posts is a sign of weakness.

By thinking RM is in infallible, we are tempting fate instead.

change can be good, but not if it means you start making your posts catchier and more instantly accessible to all these dumbasses out there

I could post in the Lightning Bolt or late era song threads if you wanted to hear real hate, but I try not to because I'm a classy guy. the Post-Riot Act Moneygrab is supposed to be a safe place.

Let's sell hundreds of our best RM posts to the World Series Twitter account.

The real tragedy is that after all this we don't have a ton of new posters on RM

I'm kinda new, and my continued interest is certainly due to all the catchy money-grabbing posts from stip

Yeah we definitely have a good number of new posters on RM since the build up to Lightning Bolt. Just multiply that by continent, and you could probably make a good estimate about how many new fans they've got worldwide.

Hear me out. This is the same problem PJ have. No matter what happens here, this will always be the board full of assholes that attack newbies and hate pearl jam. Similarly, no matter how many fun poppy ballady whatever tracks pearl jam put out, they will still always be the cranky humourless grunty angst band to the gen pop. Hence the board should just continue to be assholes and the band should go back to not giving a shit about being accsessible and all will be as it was.

I think some die-hards seriously signed some oath that they can not question the infallible Vedder and his papacy.
I think you've been successfully doing just that here, though... have you been censored?
I have had posts eliminated on the PJ forum by the moderators. Referencing cold confession and/or let it ride = defcon 6 shutdown

the deletion of the entire "Ed fired his guitar tech?" thread on the PJ forum is a page out of the kim jong il school of media management

regular censoring just leaves behind an uninsightful stepford wives residue

PS

"Oh beth"
I wasn't actually making a sweeping generalization when I posted that. i was talking specifically in reference to illumineddie and his complaint that he's here on a pearl jam message board that he registered for and doesn't feel he can complain - as I pointed out, of course, he can- we all can and do (myself included) - but other people will disagree so that's what I was saying.

I don't think the cold confession/let it ride thread (or whatever you're specifically talking about) was removed or locked or had posts deleted because the mods are kim jong il though- I think (and I could be remembering the wrong thing here, so it's unintentional if so) - I believe the mods were contacted by the ten club folks telling them to cut it out about those songs because they're 'unreleased' and people were asking for copies etc. - basically RM tries to have an at least, cordial rapport with 10 club as they depend on some Pearl Jam related info etc from them and don't look to rock that boat too much.

and the stepford wives reference is fairly unfounded too - no one, not even B or stip is so deadly serious or constricting in their attitudes of what gets posted to require a strict standard of behavior from people posting here. these days it's more common sense - don't ask for unreleased stuff in the public part of the board, don't be so much of a jerk to other people that it causes world war three online, and don't post things that will be overly inflammatory should big brother come snooping around.

so yeah, cute post and all, but terribly unrealistic in my opinion.

ps - even I've made jokes about beth that never got deleted so
