How did Gone make it on this album?

I'd like to think they couldn't settle on any of the outtakes we've heard well after the album released.

I mean, cold confession would've worked. even 10 billion years.

it's not that bad, is it?

Who's gonna tell Ed his song isn't so great?

Was let the records play revenge for gone?

There are a lot regrets.

I like "Gone" a lot, always did; the hammond organ in the verses is lovely, and Matt actually does something interesting in a song with a lot of space to do something interesting; I think it oozes atmosphere

it's definitely the "Amongst the Waves" of this album, in that you all hate it and I don't

in terms of that chorus, at this point I'd much rather a song suffer slightly from having too few words than too many

I like Gone too. The first Pearl Jam show my wife & I went to together was the Atlantic City show in 2005 when Eddie introduced Gone (just him solo). It was cool. I thought the lyrics were a bit cheesy at first but they grew on me.

I've come around on every song I didn't like on this album in the last year or two

a lot of what made me hate parts of it is that my ex constantly shit on them, and my codependent ass found it easier to just agree with her than continue to try to outwardly enjoy the stuff around her

so, Comatose, Parachutes, Big Wave, Inside Job, all is forgiven

this is still Ed's "singing like AC/DC album" but fuck it, I'll allow him one, as a treat

also fun thing I just noticed (yes I'm listening now): I used to think the lyric "I'll be hanging upside down, and there I will sway for all eternity" was Ed saying "I'm a monkey!', but now I can read Tarot and we have the "7 O'Clock" Hangman reference, I think it's one of those; I like it a lot more as a result

"Come Back" might be an issue still, but it's too boring to hate; it's a prom slowdance song, which is cool given the apocalyptic thread of the album
