This is really surprising. They seemed locked in to the album every 3-4 year cycle (plus, like PJ during an album cycle they almost always talk about trying to put out a quick album or EP soon after the last one, and it never happens).

by the way, my kid started piano lessons last month. he can play exile vilify, which was the whole reason he wanted to start lessons. i love it.
that song is good

The new album may be coming sooner than we think; this is an odd thing to just announce without anything else going on.

They did shows in the spring/early summer of '17 and released SWB in September; could be a similar timeline.

That's true, I forgot they did that Pitchfork thing so early; I still wonder if it's coming soon due to the way they're publicizing them.

I've been front-row for The National 3 times--you're in for a treat.

this has to be near my 30th time or so seeing them. and the great part is, the next one is nearly always better than the previous one. there aren't too bands i can say that about.

I didn’t see many shows last year.
Pj in Berlin was the only travelling I did.
The two national shows here in Dublin were outstanding.
Best I’ve ever seen them.

so there's a podcast called "coffee and flowers" about boxer and the specific songs. they interview a bunch of band members and collaborators.

i can already tell that i'm not going to like the hosts . . .

This Twitter post from earlier today really looks like they're tracking a new album, doesn't it?

I see that as putting final titles to songs in place of the working ones. Very happy to see
Rylan on there.
