Like basically everything else, it depends on the context. Bi-racial or multi-ethnic are preferred now, as far as I know.

It changes every few years. It circles back around, too.You have to keep up or you're a racist. Them's the rules.

Obviously, you're racist.

We should all just avoid interacting with other races. Stick to our own kind.

One of my wife's good friends is from Alabama, and I frequently try to convince her that some of her regionalisms are racial slurs in the north. She spent a few weeks thinking "janky" was used to pejoratively describe black men.

It was rare but it was definitely a thing that occasionally popped up when I was living in California about a decade ago. Every now and then you'd run across a Mexican who would be very pedantic about their national label and make it clear that not all Latinos were the same.

I'm pretty sure this exact discussion was in an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm

Well all Latinos aren't the same but it seems absurd that anyone would get upset over the term "Latino". In fact it seems to be widely embraced as a term, more so than Hispanic.

If there's something astonishing about these emails dumps, it's that there's been so little there that's astonishing. "Gasp! Hillary's aides got upset that she called herself a moderate in an interview after they had talked her up as progressive! Scandal!"
What makes these so third rail is that they backup what Trump has been saying about Hilldawg along and acknowledging he is right about this is basically the same as deporting Muslims back to China. I think.

I don't disagree with you, but I saw a couple of people get pulled up (and was pulled up once myself) for using Latino. To be clear, they weren't super irate about it, but they seemed to want the point to stick that it shouldn't be used as a general label.

Maybe I shouldn't have preceded Latinos with the word lazy? ;)
