Oh, there was a fair amount of discussion of this. Some folks decided this was a great opportunity to discuss how Mormonism is a heretical sect and the finer points about how they aren't Trinitarians in the strictest sense.

So it’s been a crazy few days down here in the smallest state. If you weren’t following, there was a shooting at Brown where two students were killed and seven others injured while studying for exams. Enormous police response but they apparently couldn’t lock the area down fast enough (Brown is right in the middle of a neighborhood, its campus is not isolated at all, with streets running through it and houses and apartment buildings mixed in with uni buildings). The city was on semi-lockdown into Saturday but then there was a report that a person of interest was arrested in Coventry (about 20 minutes from Providence…25 minutes away is the farthest you can get away in the state and still be in the state) and officials assured the public that the communities were safe. Then late, late last night, it was revealed that the POI was being released as it was clear he wasn’t the shooter. It really seems like there are no leads. There’s a grainy 8-second video of a person dressed in black walking near the campus, only viewed from behind, and that’s all they’ve shown the public. Just bizarre, and there’s lots of hand-wringing today about how safe is the city/state and gatherings of people therein if police have no idea whom they’re looking for.

I went to URI, not Brown (although I did present at a conference there once), but I lived on the East Side of Providence for 5 years, just a few streets away from where it all happened. It’s fairly surreal to see the streets I drove on and walked every day for half a decade being broadcast on the national news in this context.

A mass shootng of Jews in Australia might be enough for ghouls like bi3 and simple schoolboy to materialize. Be ready.
