Well I absolutely loved this movie despite a glaring lack of Chopper.

Things I loved:
Yoda. Seeing the sense of fun in Yoda that existed when he first met Luke is something that I truly enjoyed. The prequels and even Clone Wars, etc made him seem so stoic and serious all the time. Which is fine I guess in the context of what was going on, but it seemed like the fun character from Empire didn't even exist inside him.

I think the first space battle with Poe flying around the Dreadnaught was one of my favorite Space battles in the entire saga.

The lack of reliance on the Original Trilogy characters, especially C3-PO and R2. I expected R2 to have a big presence in this, given how much they overused him in the prequels.

Poe in general.

I thought the casino planet was a bit overdone and silly, but the payoff with the kid at the end (tying of course in to Rey's coming from no one) made it worth it.

The Jump to Hyperspace through the ship was aces.

I REALLLLLY liked the Kylo/Rey connecting through the Force conversation aspect. I thought that was a neat twist that let the two most important characters interact.

Allowing a brief moment of hope for Kylo's redemption, followed by an increased thirst for power was great.

Luke's moment of weakness that led to the birth of Kylo, and his guilt over the subsequent events.

Genuinely surprised by how many named/real characters were killed off, Luke, Snoke, Phasma, Ackbar.

Porgs work as cute characters more than maybe any attempt before them. They were there but never heros like ewoks, or even BB8.

That new AT-ST looked sweet as hell.


It did drag for a little in the middle of the film though.

Just some random thoughts...

- I don't like that Luke died. Hamill was great, now Han, Leia, and Luke are all gone. They need to bring back Lando in 9 and off him too.

- Yoda was cool. I thought the GGI was much better than the way he looked in the PT. Glad to see his wit/humor back too. He was such a downer in the PT.

- Poe was alright. I enjoy him and the scenes as they're been pretty fun in both this and TFA. Overall, I don't feel he does much for the movies. I like him, don't love him.

- Same with Finn (someone else mentioned this a few pages back re: Poe/Finn). I like the guy, he's fun in his scenes, but I feel some of it is just a detour from the good stuff.

- Snoke. Well, that was interesting. Big baddy, gonna be worse than Palpatine, sike. He's dead y'all. Nothing really major about him at all, move along.

- I thought Anankin was supposed to be a force ghost in this?

- I like Rey, I think she is a great character. Did she really come from junkies? With all the Skywalkers gone now was this move really the last Skywalker?

- Kylo has an interesting place in all this. The wannabe villain. Going from super team with Rey, to power lust / Vader in ESB was pretty cool.

- Not sure about that casino city. Some of it looked pretty cool, but it was odd. So is that kid at the end gonna be in 9 and be "the next hope"?
