Can we start using this phrase? The other night I rode this girl's shoreline.

That works, right?
Works for me. :D

It could also be used in the context of 'came as deep as any ocean'.

My Dad is Out of Control, October 30, 2013
By
Robert M. Flynn "Farmer Ted"
This review is from: Lightning Bolt (Audio CD)

My dad is out of control. I can't stand it anymore. All the dude plays is Pearl Jam.
Pearl Jam in the car. At home. Pearl Jam T-Shirts. (He used to make me wear them...uggg.)
Pearl Jam discussions. Pearl Jam coffee. Pearl Jam license plate. (PJ10Vedr)

I can't stand it. I love him and stuff, but he's really hard to be around.
I embarrassed to have him drive me and my friends places.
He always pops in Pearl Jam or puts it on the stupid Pearl Jam station.
Like anyone needs Pearl Jam 24/7. But people do...like my dad.

He thinks he's getting music cred by playing it. My friends are polite, but it's very embarrassing.
They are all like, "Dude, your dad's music sucks. What's up with that lead singer? He's always Yaaarling and Groaning...and the songs have no melody. Your dad's music sucks."

"I know," I say. "But your dad listens to Phish...so...."

It's bad, and a lot of my friends have similar problems with their dads being mad wack.

I have one whose dad just plays Dave Matthews all the time. Or the one who plays Phish. That really sucks. That guitar dudes solos grate on my ears. Makes me wanna vomit. They go nowhere fast. I guess people are into dudes who play fast??? Can't forget the Rush dad....wow...horrible.

I'm not alone, but sometimes I feel like I am.

This new album came in the mail. (My dad still buys music.)
And he is reenergized with Pearl Jam love.
It's almost unbearable. He had a listening party at his house with all of his friends.
They think they know a lot about music because they are into Pearl Jam.
Try to pass it off on me...it's pathetic.

They all got drunk and I went upstairs to surf the net.
They all started playing their favorite Pearl Jam songs.
"Daughter" came on and they all sang it at the top of their lungs.
So pathetic....It's a horrible song. Who writes songs about people with learning disabilities?
Yo. I got this sweet song. It's about a girl with LD. Cool. Not.
And here are these grown men singing about this...
Why? I can't even fathom. The song is so wack. It must give them something missing in their lives.

They partied all night. It was their Wild Hogs moment. I hope they had fun.

When I woke up in the morning, I head music coming from the bathroom downstairs. I walked by and saw my father standing in front of the mirror with a radio on singing "Nothing Man" as he stared at himself. WTF?

It's just been absolutely terrible. And my dad started liking Pearl Jam in 1993. For 20 years they have been his favorite band. He really doesn't listen to anything else. He may listen to some U2, Tom Petty, Led Zeppelin, or Black Crows...but 95% of the time it's Pearl Jam. I usually get bored of band after a couple of months. I like to explore and taste the world. Not my dad. Pearl Jam forever.

When I was a baby, I didn't even like music. I would cry when the teacher started to play the piano for sing alongs in kindergarten. I thought she would start Yarllling and Grunting and Growiling. It took years of reconditioning for my ears to accept music. All because my dad wouldn't stop listing to dumb Pearl Jam.

So. If you like Pearl Jam, buy this album. It will fulfill you delusion. Have fun with it. Run with it. Pearl Jam for life. I don't care.
I love my dad. He's been pretty cool to me and my mom and sister. I'm pretty lucky.
I wish he would give Pearl Jam a rest tough because, inadvertently I end up listening to way more Pearl Jam then is ever needed. And their bland, faux rock and roll dulls my world. And makes me seasick.

I just wish he were into cooler music.

Maybe someday I'll be the same.

But I doubt it.

That song should be 2 minutes shorter. It feels like everything's been done after about 3 minutes and then they just go on and on. Wasn't there a quote by BO'B about the songs being longer but not necessarily "deeper" (forgot which word he used)? This is how Sirens feels to me.
Well, I love Sirens, as you know. But I do think it feels very long, especially placed after the three "punky" songs before it. It's too much of an epic statement after those songs, and I find I'm just not ready for it after rocking out to three 3-minute songs. I do find Sirens to be deep enough for me, I find it meaningful, but I feel there should be one or two other songs to match it for length. It's almost as if it draws too much attention to itself.

This one has been the biggest grower on the album for me. I had to make peace with the fact that they've shoehorned two disparate styles together.

The Sirens - Pendulum run is becoming my favourite part of the album.

Lament wrote:Man, I know it's a pretty divisive song around these parts, but I really enjoy Swallowed Whole. Is it good live? I feel like it'd make a good opener if they nailed it. I'm gonna stop listening to the album now. Going out on top and all that stuff. This song really hits the spot for me. This could potentially be my favorite post-Man of the Hour song by them. At 3:05 when they come back from the solo...I get a little euphoric there. I like that.
Let's be friends.

I really like Swallowed Whole as well, it's just that intro that I have to get past.

I'm enjoying the full EPK film a lot. Man, I really wish Sirens sounded like that acoustic version at the start. It sounds like "Light Years".

They recorded all of these excellent live versions for the EPK film, and then the album versions sound like shit? Why would you do that?

I won't have the chance to watch this until tonight, most likely. What is in it?

It's the full EPK, with other snippets from the interviews, longer live performances of the songs (not all live recordings though) and all the vignettes included.

Ok, this is sad. If my nightmare ever comes true and I become a parent, I swear I'll never push my crappy taste on my kid. LOOK AT WHAT YOU'VE DONE, GUY.
