Since most of us are in the US, I think spoiler tags should probably continue to be used until the evening of the 17th, US eastern time. After that, I don't think we should expect people to contain their reviews in spoilers. But that's just me.
At the last I think you gotta go through the Friday.
I dunno--I mean, if you come to this thread on opening day, you've gotta expect to read about how Chewie betrays Han and feeds him to a pit of wamp rats.
Hey man, i dont totally disagree but wheres your love for fellow posters?

If you come to RM, or worse yet the Star Wars thread, before you've watched the movie, then you're asking for being spoiled.

First thing I'm doing is posting a screenshot of the first line of the scroller. In spoiler tags.
We're all adults you can choose to ignore it or not.

Put your phone away during the movie, D.

Some weird Irish shit I didn't know about.

Walt Disney walking in St. Stephen's Green, Dublin in 1959. The Disney family left Kilkenny for America in 1834.

Well, the SW thread, yeah. I don't get why it would be spoiled outside the thread.

Sure, but that really doesn't stop us from, as a group, deciding to extend the spoiler tags for a few days beyond release.

Fairly significant spoiler. All from an action figure

Spoiler tags are a given and should be respected for 3 or 4 days at least.
It's up to each of us to ignore them or not as we have or have not been doing.
Serious wars going on on other forums about spoiler tags in the coverage up to now.

If you really don't want to know anything you should avoid the thread. But no point being a dick and ruining it on others before they've seen it either.

I say spoiler tag until the end of the first weekend. People might be interested in general impressions in the thread without spoilers.

Historically nobody on RM agrees with anything anyone else says so while the far end of the stick might get taken I doubt it'd matter much either

I appreciate the humor of this post. But I feel like if that's all you're taking away from what Adam said, you're sorely missing the point.

I just don't understand why some people would even argue the spoiler thing for something this big for the first weekend. So what if you saw it and you want to talk about it, don't be a lazy dick and just add the spoiler tag. It is like some want to go out of their way to be an asshat boasting that they saw it before some people.

But whatever.

Ruddo, when do you plan on seeing the movie? Maybe we just need to lock the thread until we're both safe

I'm seeing it the first night. But had I not gotten tickets it would have been the following week. We can lock the whole board for a week if you want.
