Look at you people. You're in a frenzy.
Yes, it’s working.
But only because it’s us.
Casuals have lost interest long ago.
But you are their bread and butter
Why would casuals or younger people care to point their phones at the sky? You don't reach them that way.
They are targeting their base and getting them invested and ready to spend their disposable income

People over here obsessed with the metal door leak, man. You're asking the wrong questions. Fan will be fanning.

If they are targeting us die hard fans specifically, then yes I agree. If they intend to reach a wider audience, then absolutely not.
If the goal is maximum exposure then releasing a new album on the same day as Taylor Swift is probably not the best idea

To be fair, the date was probably set long before Swift's announcement.

We see this stuff in the Star Wars all the time.
People build up all these insane expectations (guilty as charged but nowhere near as much as other people) and when the thing arrives and it doesn’t meet those personal demands they’re outraged and furious about it.
This will be that.

Star Wars as a franchise will never attain the level of pure perfection achieved by my head canon.

I want to believe you meant “head canon” literally because I like the idea of bootstrapping a small canon to your head like some bootleg Transformer

Another example of the PJ marketing team dropping the ball was with the recent eclipse and not taking advantage of the point your phone to the magical sky portal thing. They had an opportunity to permanently damage so many peoples’ vision and just didn’t take advantage of that.

Between the cannon and the motorized wheelchair, I actually WOULD look like a bootleg Transformer. Let's have a coffee and workshop this!

Yes. This attempt at describing a silly thought works better audibly, and my typo of “cannon” did not help either.

Evident in that interview with Ed that they have little to nothing whatsoever to do with anything promotional.
The only thing he wanted to make certain was that the second album playback in the theater would NOT have a video component, only visual, "with lights or something."
They've clearly hired someone so that they can remain as hands-off as possible, which is surprising to me, in a way, since they're singularly responsible for their own cottage industry.
This is sad to me.
