my moment in all this is luke and leia reuniting..im sure they did some work on lukes eyes as he looks at leia..so clear so sharp..hes that small farm booy again but new..that whole moment just rang true and perfect and he kisses her and says farewell at the end...all while luke and leias theme plays over the top....just magical..this was the last moment we have anything from our big three..we will never see them together again. this is goodbye for everyone....just so powerful

An example of this can be seen early on: a curious hologram conversation between Poe Dameron and Maz Kanata, who appears to be engaged in some kind of gun battle even as she'd dishing out advice. Granted, Maz does have some useful information to impart - it's she who tells Finn and his new sidekick, Rose (a great Kelly Marie Tran) about the hacker who can help them with their mission. But that info could just have easily been dished out by Poe Dameron himself; the scene appears to function as a simple reminder that, after the confusion on the planet Takodana in The Force Awakens, Maz Kanata really is still alive.

We're supposed to ultimately get behind Poe, but his plan with Rose and Finn essentially killed every person on those shuttles.
If they hadn't mutinied and snuck onto the ship, every Rebel would have made it to that base on the planet.

While he skips over all the other problems with the movie, which are there regardless, I can’t agree that all the Skywalkers dying out is a satisfying end to the saga. That somehow all the Sith and Jedi dying brings balance to the universe. For me it’s a betrayal of the OT, and hurts the saga more than anything.

That generous. Poe essentially wipes out the Rebellion himself in this movie.

Overall, I liked the film. I got my money's worth, and it was worth the wait. Hey, Pearl Jam, make a new record, and wow, what a time that would be.

But still, there were parts that I loved and parts that I didn't care for much. But we (I) wanted someone to try different things in Star Wars and I think Johnson accomplishes that. We can still criticize, but should acknowledge that he gave a lot of fans what we wanted in regards to not just redoing Empire, like Abrams essentially redid A New Hope.

yes, the slowest space chase in history, Leia flying, useless Poe, fake looking Snope, and more are all items I struggle with

that moment in the end when he says follow the dogs and Leia says don’t look at me, he’s the leader. That whole point was too big to miss. He FINALLY becomes this leader he was trying to be. Remember, he told them to break off the speeder attack to save lives. He had his arc in the film. It just happened to cost almost all the lives of the rebellion.

useless poe is necessary - he fails and fails again because he is learning what leadership requires (not heroism) at this moment in history. Johnson takes a hot shot pilot and blows up his ship after the opening scene so he has to struggle with being powerless. He fails and in the end learns from his failure (which yoda also teaches luke). its great stuff
