Moby Dick drags, in some spots.
Gosh, it’s probably have to be something by Soundgarden. Probably pretty noose?
Anything AC/DC.
What About the intro of Harper Lewis by Russian Circles?. Is it just me or is it really great drumming?

La Villa Strangioto or Hot For Teacher might take my #3 spot for favorite rock drum songs. I'm not counting jazz fusion because if so I'd probably include something from Return to Forever.

I’ve gotten to wear I just don’t enjoy straight forward covers. The novelty of “woah this band covered that band” has worn. Bring something new to the song. Note-for-note covers bore the shit out of me.

What I find even more tiresome than note-for-note covers is the whole "let's take an upbeat song and make it all slow and melancholy"; it's worked a few times (the Johnny Cash version of "Hurt" is obviously great because it's charged with genuine emotion; the Donnie Darko version of "Mad World" was fine I guess) but it's become such a predictable go-to for artists trying to re-imagine old classics that it feels like the aural equivalent of an Instagram filter.

i agree. Specially when the song is later on a trailer. Its so obvious it just tiresome and lame.

ELO and to a greater extent Jeff Lynne are severely underrated

They have an energy, intensity and heart-on-sleeve earnestness that reminds me a lot of Vs.-era PJ. Introducing a song by bellowing "I. AM. A FEMINIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISSSST-AH!!!!" is a vintage Ed move.
boy that's put me on a trail. I watched that and then the tiny desk concert. anyone else see an angry tattooed Dave Matthews? lol
I bought both albums because man that's impressive. thanks for the video.

I'm doing some freelance work for a member of one of the bands who had several entries in the pop-punk tournament... three guesses as to who it is
