“You know you’re sick, and you can’t deny me” sounds like a guy who’s about to get arrested for harassing his ex-gf.

Or something you'd tell a loan officer at Chase Bank

Or something a cartoon virus sings in a diarrhea medicine ad.

But mostly the rape thing.

Just another lame attempt to invoke crowd participation with a 3 word chorus:

"CAN'T DENY ME"

"MIND YOUR MANNERS"

"THE, THE FIXER"

Granted, the above thought could all be washed away if the new album really is a different effort.
I disagree. I think if any of the "solo" or side projects had been released under the name Pearl Jam people would hate them far more than they do knowing that they are side projects. If that last RNDM album was a Pearl Jam album... exactly as it is but with the core group playing the instruments and Ed on vocals, people would goddamn hate it.

It's the freedom of being "apart from Pearl Jam" that makes people listen to the side projects and appreciate them in a different way.

What he didnt say: “if RNDM was released as a PJ album but was note-for-note identical to its current design and performance, it would be more appreciated by fans than this song.”

What he did say: “Each of their solo albums/side projects offer something far more interesting and unique than what they do as a collective“

And again I'll say I disagree. And again I'll say that I think the RM fandom is so obsessed with non-existent "PRAMG" and "how bad" the band has become that no matter what they released it would be lesser than the solo or side projects. Again my point stands. Again what I said doesn't change.

Remember when I made the argument that if "Mind Your Manners" was released by a different band you wouldn't like it as much and you got all pissed at me for throwing out hypotheticals that can't be proven or disproven?

For a band that evolved so rapidly and significantly between their first and 6/7th albums within a relatively short period of time....Its just disappointing to see absolutely 0 musical growth in 15 years.

Cant Deny Me is fine but we've heard this song countless times from them now.

That is where I stand.

You're entitled to your stance and you shouldn't let anyone -- even an bonehead like me -- get in the way of that.
