It is. It's also been a part of New York City since 1898 when all the boroughs were incorporated into one city.

Brooklyn is a large chunk of New York City and at this point I believe is the most populated borough. Geographically it is the beginning of Long Island, but so is Queens. Bronx is also separated from Manhattan by a river and is the bottom tip of Westchester above it, but is still part of New York City. Staten Island is geographically furthest from Manhattan, as you have to traverse New York Harbor by ferry to get there (unless you connect, say, through Brooklyn by car). All five boroughs are part of New York City (even if SI is decidedly Republican).

Short answer: Brooklyn is very much part of New York City.

Also the hipsters moved to Sunnyside in Queens and the South Bronx (SoBro!). They can’t afford Williamsburg anymore.

Anyway, I was previously leaning towards LA, but the venue is out of way with no easy public transportation to it. I'm probably going to pass on LA. St. Louis is now my front runner! RM meetup here I come!
