I don't understand how the same person who wrote "Comes Then Goes" just a few years ago could write this song and be proud of it.
He's positioning himself squarely in "soft adult contemporary music" territory. Ugh.

Sounds like I don't have to even listen to this.
Also, this album isn't released till late Feb. Fuck off.

Why is Ed holding a bass guitar on the album cover?

This might be a controversial opinion, but I don't see Eddie's recent material as a devolving of his skill.
I think he always sucked at writing songs and simply lucked out and had a fruitful period in the 90's, no doubt brought on by surroundings and inspiration.
In other words, it's the norm rather than the exception. The current Eddie isn't much different from Bad Radio Eddie. All the same boring and annoying tendencies were always there.

What about John Cena?

The Haves is a good song.
What’s more surprising is it’s the second single and song to be performed live.
Doesn’t take away my curiosity about what the rest of the album sounds like.

I don't think this is far wrong.

His writing has been crap other than the 10-15 year period where most songwriters create their best stuff...

I just saw a clip on their instrageam with some of those lyrics. Eddie talking about haves and have nots? Really isn’t a great look. Not inspired by that but will give the album a fair go.

It’s an interesting take.
I always throught Ed did his best writing from a character’s perspective. What if his writing in the 90s was his best bc at that time he was a character of himself?

i managed to make it 1:20 into 'Long Way' before turning it off
progress
i don't hate it
i also don't plan to seek it out again
i am happy that Ed seems to have found peace at this stage of his life, however

The Haves
managed to make it 58 seconds in
the last couple seconds were a stretch though
Ed's voice does not sound good, no sir
thus concludes my Ed solo album exploration for this decade
see you in 2031!

I have listened to 30 secs of "The haves" live and a 30 second studio clip. I will be avoiding hearing this in full at all costs.
I was on this forum before bed a few nights ago and then " allll of the HHeheyeves... they have naahhaat" was stuck in my head while trying to sleep. so glad i don't know any more of it.
I loved into the wild, it's crazy to think i will be actively avoiding earthling. In 2007, I would have been so excited for a full band EV album with pino.
